Desert Elephant Matriarchs of Namibia

Desert Elephant Herds are usually led by a Matriarch who is usually The Oldest Female and has accumulated as much as 20 plus years experience of the climatic conditions in her Home Range.  In The Kaokoveld, Desert Elephants work extremely hard trekking for Long Distances when food and water become scarce.  It has been recorded that Desert Elephant Home Ranges in this region extend upto 2000 Square Kilometres with the Desert Elephants walking upto 200 kms every day in search of water.  The Hoarusib Desert Elephant Matriarchs and the Hoanib Desert Elephant Matriarchs are Priceless as they lead their Herds through the thick and thin of life.  These Desert Elephant Matriarchs have survived numerous Systematic Poaching Massacres and have gathered remnants of the Herd among them Young Cow Elephants and Calves desperately in search of Guidance and Direction in their lives.
